U20 Vietnam on the brink of relegation: A wake-up call for the entire youth training system

The U20 Asian Cup qualifiers are entering their decisive days, but no one expected U20 Vietnam to fall into such a difficult situation. After the first two matches, our team has yet to earn a single point, sitting at the bottom of Group C. The remaining opponent in the final round is U20 Iran – a true powerhouse of Asian football. If no miracle happens, the risk of falling into the developing group – for developing football nations – is almost certain. This is not just a sporting failure, but a wake-up call for the entire Vietnamese youth development system. Meanwhile, in the opposite direction, U20 Singapore and U20 Myanmar have officially secured promotion to the qualifying group. They achieved what years ago many considered impossible: overcoming stronger opponents to move up to a higher competition level. While Vietnamese youth football is struggling to find a way out, neighboring countries are taking a big step forward. Looking at the standings, the problem of U20 Vietnam is not due to one bad match. Two losses with zero points reflect a prolonged incapacity, not only in tactics but in mentality and physical foundation.
